Day 4

Scripture to Read: Luke 8:26-28

Jesus had just taken the disciples through a trial, and it shook them. Also, they had no idea that their faith was about to be tested again. God had Luke record in Luke 8:26–28, “Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 And when He came out onto the land, He was met by a man from the city who was possessed with demons; and who had not put on any clothing for a long time, and was not living in a house, but in the tombs. 28 Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, ‘What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me.’” No doubt, Jesus knew why He had the disciples get into the boat, face the storm, and then be met by a demon-possessed man. Our Lord God Almighty knows everything about our lives, not only what we have already faced in our past, but what we will face in the next minute, hour, day, week, month, year, and all the rest of the time we’ll be here on earth. His plan for us is that we carry out the works He has for us to do (Ephesians 2:10, Matthew 28:19–20, Acts 1:8). Now, let’s not miss that when the demon-possessed man saw Jesus, the demons called Jesus, “Son of the Most High God.” They knew, which is more than we can say for so many people today!

Challenge & Application

Why is it important to know and believe that God already knows everything about our lives and is surprised by nothing? Why do we still stress over things when we know God the Holy Spirit lives in us and works through us?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 3

As God allows us to face trials, we learn the following from God about our trials in James 1:2–4, “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” So, we k...

For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and yet he woul...
